Why do I love the way we roll so much?

…because

we know the gentlest stuff goes the deepest…

the slowest steps last the longest…

curiosity is our compass…

patience and encouragement drop the strongest roots…

long-term transformation arises from pleasure and laughter just as much as challenging times…

…and the best music is made from friendship and admiration  coz best times last forever!

Be Still and Know

As I sit with my steaming cup of morning tea.
Soft spiritual music drifts all around me.
My daughter and my pet dog are cozy asleep in bed,
The rain pitter -pats on the Ashok trees and watershed.
Across the boundary wall the world drenched in the incessant pitter-patter,
My thoughts sometimes blank and other times all a scatter.
The setting perfect, to pour out my heart,
But, I’m totally empty, in my world all is apart.

My recent travels and
experiences the whole array,
Brain and  heart totally dysfunctional, in disarray.
There’s been great learning and joy in my travels galore,
Wonder what one could ask for more?
No one knows that, and life demands to be met head on,
I half-heartedly sip my tea and then anon.
Flailing wildly for any thought that might make sense,
Outside of my own head and its confusingly tense.

I am floundering in a sea of me. There’s no room to just ‘be’
In my own intellect, knowledge and experiences, drowning scares me.
There’s no time to go sit in a quiet sanctuary,  the perfect setting is fleeting.
Thoughts and memories go whizzing, while my heart goes on beating
This is real life, people, and real life is messy and stagnant.
Memories and reminders all come snowballing…..poignant
Real life is loud, and I think I’m afraid that if I stop and be still,
Underneath the chatter, there won’t be anything worth saying, nor I will.

I forget that He calls us to stillness, to a deep sense of calm,
He speaks most clearly in the quietness and it’s like a balm.
In my trying to stay afloat , His presence is sublime,
He makes all things beautiful in his time.

When we are most drowning, He is able to do some of His finest work.
For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
- Isaiah 43:19

That verses make me shiver with anticipation.
Real life forces us to be still and know despite the desperation
Our hearts may be as if, clutched too tight to even beat.
I may be frozen – in speech, to thought, in deed , just still in retreat.
I may not see his works, the new pathways, and the rivers flowing.
I may see nothing from the horizon to horizon of my life, yet knowing.
Yes,  He is at work re-creating.
Me….. for Me continuously working.

NUMBERS

One sees repeated Number Patterns pretty often, do they register?   If you consciously make that effort, pause, sit up you will find its meaning and how it relates. There are millions of explanations you can read about the numbers that appear everywhere you look, the important thing is to understand and trust what they are telling you.  Every culture from different countries  interpret  different meaning to numbers, from Fibonacci numbers  to spiritual, religion, mythology, each  interpretation may be different. We must use our intuition to assess the best fit for the situation, if the situation and the interpretation don’t fit/ click, then there is something more deeper you need to look into,  even though, this first clue may be just a cue to help you move to the bigger picture.

Just remember  to pay attention to the numbers around, in doing so  we use them as receptive tools to our connection to the universe and our awareness, that help with our choices in life.

Jewellry

Jewellry is like the perfect spice,
Compliments the wearer a million fold.
Without a word it makes a statement
Expressing, who you are for all to behold.

Life is too short to wear boring jewellry,
But remember you just need that bit of glow.
You mustn't be afraid to sparkle,
So give yourself a brilliantly pearly row.

In this crazy rhinestone world,
Don't let anyone dull your sparkle
Remember you are a diamond, shining bright
Unbreakable, as you shine that light and twinkle.

Jewellry is a very personal thing,
It should tell a story of the person who's wearing it.
They are the vitamins of fashion
So use them liberally and with passion.

Enjoy each exquisite piece you have,
Handed down or bought with love and more.
While the world doses watch you glow 'n' glitter,
You get to leave your sparkle everywhere you go!

Life's literati "IF"

What if.......
In the world there is no light,
Or there is too much for, to fight.
Maybe there's not enough cash to flow,
Or else the economy goes slow.
No natural  resources for all around,
Nothing is there above or underground.
........ and in our lives
There is no trust,
there is only greed desire and lust.
Commitments broken promises never kept.
Smiles all gone and everyone only wept.
What if the world began to die
me myself alone and I
........ uncertainity surrounds us
Worry, baffle, fear and strife
How do you end this all to make a beautiful life
Change  for the better, challenges need to be overcome as an offshoot.
Fear creates "What Ifs" never allow it to take root.
Create a space for the good times  to come in, forever to stay
Once it begins, for sure it wont stop and will stay that way.

"God is supernaturally tuned in to our frequency. His blazing eyes take in our slightest stir. His holy ears prick at our softest whisper. Better still, He's in close proximity when we cry." -Lisa Harper

Breathe....breathe

Breathe-in, Breathe-out, hold, breathe again
Release all the stress and  pain
Breathing helps you survive
It helps you go on with staying alive.
The time you have  lived  through the years
Woven with warm sunshine and cold  tears.
It is the experiencing of that life which counts
Its your life, the  sum of  which, it all amounts.
Breathing helps in letting go,
Try it  and see,  fast or slow,
Soon you'll be breathing much, much  more.
Knowing every breathe...more than before.

Be You

If  being kind hearted to people all around,
got you nothing but hurt, rejection feeling of being let down.
Be who you are and show  what your heart can do,
Never change for anyone, let them see the goodness inside you.
Your  thoughtfulness and the goodness,
The caring that you show,
Just continue walking the path,
Till they see that glow.
Even then, If they stay blind to the fact
and they really dont react,
Its for them to learn to see,
"Theres so much in it for me!"
 Don’t change yourself.
They will change.
They need to to know.
Their life, how why and when, to rearrange
Just keep being to your self beautifully true,
Be abd be the wonderful kind you.

A good read........

One young academically excellent person went to apply for a managerial position in a big company.

He passed the first interview, the director did the last interview, made the last decision.
The director discovered from the CV that the youth's academic achievements were excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, never had a year when he did not score.
The director asked, "Did you obtain any scholarships in school?" the youth answered "none".
The director asked, " Was it your father who paid for your school fees?"
The youth answered, "My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees.
The director asked, " Where did your mother work?" The youth answered, "My mother worked as clothes cleaner. The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect.
The director asked, " Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes before?" The youth answered, "Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books. Furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than me.  The Director said, "I have a request. When you go back today, go and clean your mother's hands, and then see me tomorrow morning.  The youth felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back, he happily requested his mother to let him clean her hands. His mother felt strange, happy but with mixed feelings, she showed her hands to the kid. The youth cleaned his mother's hands slowly. His tear fell as he did that.  It was the first time he noticed that his mother's hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises were so painful  that his mother shivered when they were cleaned with water.

This was the first time the youth realized that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes everyday to enable him to pay the school fee. The bruises in the mother's hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his graduation, academic excellence and his future. After finishing the cleaning of his mother hands,
the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother. That night, mother and son talked for a very long time.Next morning, the youth went to the director's office.

The Director noticed the tears in the youth's eyes, asked: " Can you tell me what have you done and learned yesterday in your house ?"The youth answered, " I cleaned my mother's hand, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes'  The Director asked, " please tell me your feelings."  The youth said, Number 1, I know now what is appreciation. Without my mother, there would not the successful me today. Number 2, by working  together and helping my mother, only I now realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done. Number 3, I have come to appreciate the  importance and value of family relationship.*

The director said, " This is what I am looking for to be my manager. I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person  who knows the sufferings of others to get things done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life. You are hired.

Later on, this young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates. Every employee worked diligently and as a team. The company's performance improved tremendously.

A child, who has been protected and habitually given whatever he wanted, would develop "entitlement mentality" and would always put himself first. He would be ignorant of his parent's efforts. When he starts work, he assumes that every person must listen to him, and when he becomes a  manager, he would never know the sufferings of his employees and would always blame others. For this kind of people, who may be good  academically, may be successful for a while, but eventually would not feel sense of achievement. He will grumble and be full of hatred and fight for more. If  we are this kind of protective parents, are we really showing love or are we destroying the kid instead?*
You can let your kid live in a big house, eat a good meal, learn piano, watch a big screen TV. But when you are cutting grass, please let them  experience it. After a meal, let them wash their plates and bowls together with their brothers and sisters. It is not because you do not have money  to hire a maid, but it is because you want to love them in a right way. You want them to understand, no matter how rich their parents are, one day  their hair will grow gray, same as the mother of that young person. The most important thing is your kid learns how to appreciate the effort and  get things done.

You would have forwarded many mails to many, and many of them would have back mailed you too...but try and forward this story to as many as  possible...this may change somebody's fate..

I AM ME YOU ARE YOU

It’s Humane to compare,
To be ourselves we don’t dare!
To the world we will not bare
Neither ourselves do we share.

There is no one else like ME or YOU,
In the world, so it is, this is true,
Is it not worth celebrating?
Than sitting down and ruminating.
I , YOU are unique in nature.
Ourselves embrace and be mature.
The special qualities that make YOU, or I,
Don’t measure or compare, but defy.

Everyone else is taken
There is no one like YOU, I so awaken.
To the knowledge YOU, I are incomparable.
As the world knows and is unmentionable
Using our full potential.
Of every special gift, be reverential,
The outcome, of specific purpose and reasons.
Now honed with experiences of all seasons

Appreciate each unique talent,
YOU,I gained from every sigh or lament.
The collection, collage of qualities supreme
Accumulative Joy, fulfillment or pain is a awesome dream.

So YOU are YOU and I am ME, and so shall it be
For eternity
Through all changes, YOU remain YOU and I will be ME!

Sharing & Caring

Let your feelings flow.... contributing to your community today.
Extending your  support  to others, less fortunate along the way.
A way to share the abundance you have is not asking as much.
Today you might find some way to to reach out and and their soul touch.
Someone in need is always waiting for  someone like you .
Perhaps you can think about what you love to do
Be  it something artistic or inter active, use your talents, interests, strength.
Let others benefit from what you have to share, your passions and learning as is meant.
Giving back to the world our gifts from the universe  is wonderful  you'll see,
The more we use what we have, the more meaningful  it will be.
The  universe gives for us to share,  inspiring hope in those around us here.
Sharing and caring is  the most powerful gift we can give to those far or near.
By serving your community through your gifts today,
You will be a source of inspiration that can awaken the talents that  in others lay.

Salutation

This is something we rarely do.
Tell me it is untrue.
No time to look in to anothers eyes,
No time to look up at the skies
No thime to see the eyes all a glow
Of that someone who you know.
All we do is a surface glance
and throw  a hug or handshake  askance.
Stop to look and find the time
You'll find a million dollar not a dime
The universe is what you'll see
If you look really well at me and I at thee!

Sometimes in a crowd we feel tired, cold, and lonely. We may wish to withdraw
to be by ourselves and become warm again, as I did when I closed the windows
and sat by the fire, protected from the damp, cold wind. Our senses are our
windows to the world, and sometimes the wind blows through them and disturbs
everything within us. Some of us leave our windows open all the time, allowing
the sights and sounds of the world to invade us, penetrate us, and expose our sad,
troubled selves. We feel so cold, lonely, and afraid. Do you ever find yourself
watching an awful TV program, unable to turn it off? The raucous noises,
explosions of gunfire, are upsetting. Yet you don't get up and turn it off.
Why do you torture yourself in this way? Don't you want to close your windows?
Are you frightened of solitude--the emptiness and the loneliness
you may find when you face yourself alone?

--Thich Nhat Hanh--
Essentialities…

Organize and prioritize tasks today,

That would mean working towards an accomplishing day.

Responsibilities in life, that are important for you.

Consider, things necessary for your growth, to do.

Work -life balance, time, a list of for essential thing,

Commit to accomplish, that which is important to your well-being,

Adding meaning to life, do all that fulfills it

Genuine priorities to be set to hilt.

Mundane task often we do prioritize,

To others expectations do we need to rise.

Stretching and straining others to please.

We need to get down to fundamentals and our needs ease,

Once we know the deeper meaning on the spiritual aspect,

Priorities with greater purpose will support, self respect.

Can I remember..........

what I may have forgotten long ago:

I am stronger than Ican begin to think,

I possess ............

greater capacity to love than I believe I do,

ability to heal the wounds that have defined me,

sufficient creativity to meet the challenges ahead,

capacity to be completely authentic in this second, right NOW.

NOW.

there is only now,

if I stay in the now and just remember it.

Night will follow day and be followed by Night

I will enjoy each moment if I live in the now.

Good Things Ahead for You!

WALK - RUN - FLY

When you WALK the Lord will guide you.

When you RUN He will sustain you.

And when you FLY, yes when you FLY-

He will take you places you've never dreamed.

The Lord has good things ahead for you!

They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles....

"No mud, No Lotus"

Thich Naht Hahn has four words "No mud - No lotus" for his teaching on suffering. Thay explains:“It’s like growing lotus flowers. You cannot grow lotus flowers on marble. You have to grow them on the mud. Without mud, you cannot have a lotus flower. Without suffering, you have no ways in order to learn how to be understanding and compassionate.... Happiness is the lotus flower, and the suffering is the mud. So the practice is how to make use of the suffering, make use of the mud, to create the flower, the happiness, and this is something possible."- Thich Nhat Hanh

BREATHE

Breathe and you know…that you are alive.
Breathe and you know…that all is helping you.
Breathe and you know…that you are the world.
Breathe and you know…that the flower is breathing too.
Breathe for yourself…and you breathe for the world.
Breathe in compassion…and breathe out joy.
Breathe and be one…with the air that you breathe.
Breathe and be one…with the earth that you tread.
Breathe and be one …with the fire that glows.
Breathe and you breathe…the thought of birth and death.
Breathe and you see…impermanence is life.
Breathe for your joy...and to be steady and calm.
Breathe for your sorrow…to flow away.
Breathe to renew…every cell in your blood.
Breathe to renew…the depth of consciousness.
Breathe and you dwell…in the here and now.
Breathe and all you touch…is new and real.

- Thich Nhat Hanh

REFUGE PRAYER

At the foot of the Bodhi Tree,
Beautifully seated, peaceful and smiling,
The living source of understanding and compassion,
To the Buddha I go for refuge.
The path of mindful living,
Leading to healing, joy, and enlightenment,
The way of peace,
To the Dharma I go for refuge.
The loving and supportive community of practice,
Realizing harmoney, awareness and liberation,
To the Sangha I go for refuge.
I am aware that the Three Gems are within my heart.
I vow to realize them.
I vow to practice mindful breathing and smiling,
Looking deeply into things.
I vow to understand living beings and their suffering,
To cultivate compassion and loving kindness,
And to practice joy and equanimity.
I vow to offer joy to one person in the morning
And to help relieve the grief of one person in the afternoon.
I vow to live simply and sanely,
Content with just a few possessions,
And to keep my body healthy.
I vow to let go of all worry and anxiety
In order to be light and free.
I am aware that I owe so much to my parents, teachers, friends and all beings.
I vow to be worthy of their trust,
To practice wholeheartedly,
So that understanding and compassion will flower,
And I can help living beings
Be free of their suffering.
May the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha support my efforts..

-- Thich Nhat Hanh --

THE THREE JEWELS

I take refuge in the Buddha,
The one who shows me the way in this life.

I take refuge in the Dharma,
The way of understanding and love.

I take refuge in the Sangha,
The community that lives in harmony and awareness.

- Thich Nhat Hanh -

TWENTY-FOUR BRAND NEW HOURS

Waking up this morning, I see the blue sky.
I join my hands in thanks for the many wonders of life;
For having twenty-four brand new hours before me.
The sun is rising.
The forest becomes my awareness bathed in sunshine.
I walk across a field of sunflowers.
Tens of thousands of flowers are turned toward the bright east.
My awareness is like the sun.
My hands are sowing seeds for the next harvest.
My ear is filled with the sound of the rising tide.
In the magnificent sky, clouds are approaching with joy from many directions.
I can see the fragrant lotus ponds of my homeland.
I can see coconut trees along the rivers.
I can see rice fields stretching, stretching, laughing at the sun and rain.
Mother Earth gives us coriander, basil, celery and mint.
Tomorrow the hills and mountains of the country will be green again.
Tomorrow the buds of life will spring up quickly.
-- Thich Nhat Hanh --
